Chill? Settling In. Week2

New models for some clothing line?
Mondays and Wednesdays I find are getting easier. At first Kawan wasn’t quite my favourite, but now they’re not too bad. Making friends with the people there make it a lot easier.
We’ve decided to do rotations now for the Kawan shop because the girls all appreciate Kawan more than the shop. The shop is more relaxing, but very repetative, where as being with the homeless you don’t know if you’ll be preparing meals, or leading bible studies, cleaning, upstairs praying, or talking with the people passing through.

Wednesday Kaylee was feeling so crappy, and Samma had a migraine. Kaylee ended up going to the doctor and getting some antibiotics. She felt completely better by Saturday. Samma can only take one type of drug to make her migraines go away, and she didn’t have it with her. This time, she said she felt so much comfort, which doesn’t happen. She just knew in her knower she was going to be alright. When we got back she took a nap for about an hour and when she woke up she was completely fine. Absolutely incredible, our God is.
Michael’s had sores all over his hands since we got here. They were rapidly getting worse, so Wednesday he was finally forced to go to the doctor. He got some cream he was told to put on his hands every morning and night. Today his hands are completely healed.
Wednesday nights we do Night Ministry. About 5 different groups split to different areas. Last week I went with this lady who’s been visiting prostitutes for the last 4 years. I went again this last week. This one lady-boy named Flower always just says a quick “hi/bye” sort of deal. This time she stayed and talked for a good portion of our visit. IIt’s incredible that finally after 4 years there was breakthrough in that. I can only imagine how discouraged I would get if I wasn’t getting any response. At that point though it would be completely worth it.

Thursday and Friday afternoons we’ll be planning for Saturday and Sunday groups. Saturdays we have the youth and Sundays we have childrens church. 3 People during this time will go to teach English and just hangout with kids ages 3-13years.

Friday morning the staff asked us students what we wanted to do because a lot of us felt like everything was very set in our schedules. We all prayed and in the end got it should just be a fun time where we should hangout altogether. It’s very different coming here because we don’t spend as much time in community, we’re always breaking apart into whatever is going on, whereas in Wollongong everything we did together all the time.
So now Friday mornings we’ll be going to the field just down the road and hanging out. Maybe Kevin will bring his guitar, Lennart will probably bring his soccer ball, Michael a basket ball. Maybe sometimes we’ll have food. It’ll just be a time to be together.
We weren’t sure what to do that particular Friday and we had a lot of time left. Lennart suggested a treasure hunt. Simply asking God for a picture, then going to find it. He showed Jamie sitting on the steps in front of the stage at the field just down the road. Once we were finished going around the circle asking, we had another minute for confirmation or anything else God might have. Alyssa got a picture of us doing Interlude on the stage at that same field (if you don’t know what this is, YouTube is a good friend). We then all went over to the field only to find the stage was blocked off for an event related the election that’s coming up May 5th. After being denied access to the stage, Alyssa pushed it a little more, telling them it was only one dance. The let us on to do it. Apparently they were going to let us use the speakers too if they were set up. It’s so cool that things like this can be done.

This week I was randomly thinking...no idea how I got to this in my mind. In the bible times there were so many miracles. Today those same things occur, but we don’t seem to count them as greatly as miracles, at least that’s how my mind works. When really there are miracles everyday. We just have to be watching out for them. And it says in the bible that we’ll do greater things than Jesus ever did. He raised people from the dead. Sure, there are stories of people being raised. And that is incredible. But how is it that there could be anything greater than that? If we’re thinking of the impossible, that would seem to be the biggest. It’s still a working progress, but that’s what I’ve been thinking of so far.
