Staff&Students!

I figured for this post I should just tell you folks about the incredible people here. Mainly the staff for this season and the students for this season. Also, if you want to see what the building looks like...well you'll have to find someway to inform me.

For the Emerge DTS (Discipleship Training School) students we have: (this is the school I'm obviously on)

Jonathan

He's 24 and from Belgium. We've had a couple good talks. That picture might look hilarious, but I figured you guys should see the look he gives me the majority of my life.

Kaylee

She's 18 and from California. We get along really well too. They try to encourage us to be open with each other and actually say what's going on rather than stuffing it all in. So like Kayla, we are actually quite open with each other. We can vent without it actually being gossiping. We can discuss issues and figure out ways to solve them. It's just a good time. 

Keeley

She's 19 and from Seattle, Washington. Kaylee like's to say she's a hipster but she doesn't quite count herself as that. It's nice having little random chats with her. If I say I don't agree with something the speaker has been saying she says that it's okay. I don't need to agree with everything everyone says. Plus, thinking to myself now, if I did there are a lot of people out there that don't agree. It is important to form opinions for yourself because if you "agreed" with everything people said you'd be contradicting yourself a lot.

Kevin

He's 21 and from Ontario. He's really easy to connect with, but also doesn't open up to easily. Also noted from the beginning, he's comfortable in both silence and talkative situations. I guess thinking about it now, in week 11 he's quite loud. And random. Owen and him are so similar it's scary.

Rachel

She's 18 and from Strathmore. Decent life in Australia




On Sports DTS we have:

Kayla

She's 19 and from Edmonton. We get along really well. She has a huge mother heart and just loves to talk and listen to what's going on. I was having a hard day one time and instead of bringing up the issue over and over again she asked if I just wanted to go get ice cream. We did and just talked about randomness, which helped. I dunno. Very insightful. 

Lennart

He's 21 and from Germany. I think he learned English in Germany. It's hard to actually pick it up when people aren't constantly using it. Well now, going into week 12 he's really starting to talk. It's hilarious. This guy gets so sassy! The other day Michael said "Oh and Lennart snores so loud!" Lennart replies "I do not! You liar! You stinkin' liar! You, me, outside after lunch!" Super funny. Can't wait 'til the end to see how much he talks then.

Michael

He's 20 and from Ontario. He definitely likes to tease people, but knows the line and can just say it to crack everyone up. On the other side, this guy is pretty insightful. Really has his own opinion. And outgoing, which is great. Especially when we're asked who will pray for something or other. He almost always volunteers immediately (good for those of us who're not quite comfortable with that stuff)

Samma

She's 22 and from Minneapolis. She's really great to process things with. Or if say, I need advice of how to handle something, she's really good to talk to because she also looks at other angles and possibilities.





The staff:

Bryan

He's from Canada. He's dating Jess. He plays guitar. And its probably the skinniest guy I know. All in all, I don't know him very well. But they are pretty cute together.

Jess

She's from Australia. She's dating Bryan. She's got a sweet heart. She's compassionate, and fears God. She's in tune. 

Joel

He's from Australia. He makes us students feel more comfortable I think because he's not afraid to really state his mind. He can straight up say he is broken but it's super real. Not that the other staff aren't real, cuz they are. Don't really know how to explain it. But I find that this guy really can see the real stuff in people. He's prayed for me a few times, when he doesn't even know what's going on, God clearly is speaking through him because it can line up with what is happening. Pretty cool gift. 

Jun

He's from everywhere. Almost literally. He's got a great laugh, and is easy to talk to. I think he can tell what people are feeling, even if they don't say it. Gentle and just a well rounded person. 

Krista

She's from Minnesota. She's got a very outgoing personality. Sparky, loves laughter. But she's also got that nice conversational touch. She's really sweet. Just love her enthusiasm.

Laura & Raph

He's from Switzerland. He's dating Laura. And I don't know him well either.




Staff going with us to Malaysia:

Alyssa

She's from Michigan. She's my one on one. She's awesome and knows how to make this really yummy drink thing. If any of you want it, I can make it when I get home :) She's got the wisdoms that a leader would need. She's super funny too. And knows when to say something, doesn't just go along with everything everyone else does. I like that.

Jamie

He's from Canada. He's funny and likes to steal my chocolate milk. Rude. But nice.

Donna & Dave

She's from Australia. Has such a mother heart. So much compassion and gives wonderful advice. I can't wait to get to know her more on outreach.
He's from Australia. He's the one who gave me the nickname Rocket. He's funny and ready to jump in at everything. When he's at home and sees me walking by, he randomly comes out, gives me a hug says something or other and continues on. Great, cuz my mom isn't here to randomly give me hugs.
